In short: It is a composite rupture disc whose "light lip" rim forms a 30° angled seat. This geometry is designed to achieve low burst pressures with fast response, in corrosive processes and sensitive lines.
How it works
In a disc, the zone where the dome joins the rim that is clamped in the disc holder strongly influences its behavior. If that transition is rigid, more pressure is needed for the dome to yield; if it is lighter and well supported, the disc can be calibrated to lower pressures with good repeatability. In this model the rim is formed with a "light lip" that seats at a 30° angle, hence its name.
Like every composite disc, it separates functions: a high-strength metal top section carries the load and defines the burst, and a metallic or non-metallic seal provides tightness and chemical compatibility with the fluid. Optional accessories are added: vacuum support for when the system may be left under negative pressure, and protective rings, gaskets or outlet liners that extend disc life and ease maintenance.
The manufacturer states that the design allows static, cyclic or pulsating service, and that it offers an easy-to-clean surface that limits product buildup.
When it makes sense (and when it does not)
- Suitable for low-pressure systems where a reliable, fast burst is needed.
- Recommended with corrosive fluids, choosing the seal for chemical compatibility.
- Suitable in processes prone to leaving residues, thanks to its easy-to-clean surface.
- Suitable with vacuum support if there is moderate vacuum in the equipment.
- Not advisable to assume it fits any disc holder: the 30° seat requires a disc holder with the matching geometry.
- It is not suitable for high-pressure services, which are not its design target.
Data to specify it
- Burst pressure and coincident temperature.
- Normal operating pressure and type of service (static, cyclic, or pulsating).
- Nominal diameter and compatible disc holder with 30° seat.
- Fluid and seal material: metallic or non-metallic.
- Vacuum condition, to define whether a support is needed.
- Accessories: protective ring, gaskets or outlet liner.
