The burst limit is calibrated at a reference temperature (usually 22 °C). As temperature rises, the metal softens and the burst pressure drops (approx. 0.2 %/°C in steels). At low temperatures the opposite occurs. For processes with variations greater than ±20 °C, specify the burst pressure at service temperature or use a disc model certified for a wide range. Manufacturers provide compensation curves that must be incorporated into the safety calculation.
